Wildflower Walk

Greenspace’s annual Wildflower Walk will be Sunday, April 13, 2008, from 9:30 – 2:00.  The event is on Red Mountain north of Cambria at an elevation of about 1650 feet.  The walk follows a gravel road which is largely level, with two gentle inclines—not overly challenging!

Native plant expert Deborah Hilyard from the California Department of Fish and Game will share her enthusiasm for native grasses, shrubs, and trees as well as wildflowers.  She is particularly excited to show how plants respond differently to soil conditions.

Lunch will be provided following the walk along with an opportunity to enjoy the coastline views from Wayne Attoe and Peter Frith’s home.

Cost is $35/per person.  All proceeds will help to move Greenspace projects forward.

Space is limited so it is important to reserve your spot by calling Greenspace at (805) 927-2866, or email rick@greenspacecambria.org.

This event sells out nearly every year, so call for a reservation soon.  You will need a sturdy pair of walking shoes, a water bottle, hat and sunglasses/sunscreen. Bring binoculars as there are also wildlife viewing opportunities. Wear light, layered clothing.
